Biography

Matthew Brian Cost was born in Glen Ridge, New Jersey on May 26th, 1979. In 2001 he graduated from Colby College in Waterville, Maine, where he had studied sociology and performing arts. After college Matt joined Portland Stage Company, in Portland, Maine, as a stage management intern. Having studied mostly the technical side of theater in school, Matt had no intention early on of acting on the stage or in front of the camera. He spent several years working as an electrician and general stage hand at several New Hampshire and Maine theaters, also production managing, and spending one summer as the company manager at the Ogunquit Playhouse in Ogunquit, Maine. Eventually the idea of performing on the stage did find its way into Matt's brain, and he has performed in several plays at The Player's Ring, in Portsmouth, New Hampshire. The latest of these, Summer Blink, was made into a feature-length movie during the summer of 2007, the same time Matt was asked to be in Working Stiffs through a mutual friend of his and director Jim Finitsis'. Matt is currently living in North Hampton, New Hampshire, and is back working at the Portland Stage Company, as their Lighting and Sound Supervisor. He also plays bass in the Boston-based folk-punk band The Swaggerin' Growlers. At this time, he has no acting projects in the works.
